Falkirk Council Education Service have a volunteer training opportunity for people interested in becoming tutor assistants in their ESOL classes. This is a great opportunity for people looking for something interesting to do. If you are friendly and with a good sense of humour and are interested in meeting new people from other countries, then this opportunity might be for you.
Volunteers are required to attend a 6 week training course which will cover the basic skills you require to help someone develop their English.
Basic skills include:hings as
- Language awareness
- Techniques for developing reading, writing, speaking and listening
- How to grade your own language so the learner can understand you
- How to correct them in a meaningful yet encouraging way
- What subjects to cover with them, including introducing the learner to Falkirk
Reliability and enthusiasm are more important than knowledge of the English Language. Local accents and local knowledge are particularly useful in this setting.
The opportunity will take place in Park Street Community Centre, Falkirk from Wednesday 1st July – Wednesday 5th August 2015.
If you would like further information regarding this opportunity then please contact the Volunteer Team on 01324 692000 or email info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk
