Forth Environment Link (FEL) are holding an “Eat the Street” event at their community hub, 199A – 203 High Street, Falkirk, FK1 1DU, on Saturday 4th August, 11am – 4pm, and looking for volunteers to get involved.
The event theme focuses on nature and the environment. FEL are particularly looking for volunteers to assist on the day, and to get involved beforehand as part of the Common Thread project. Volunteer roles include:
- Common Thread knitting project
With Common Thread, volunteers are asked to knit their favourite bird, animal, flower or vegetable, highlighting the things and areas FEL are passionate about and work in. These will be displayed at the event.
To take part, or for further information, please contact Vicki Ferguson by email: vickif@forthenvironmentlink.org
Alternatively, for further information, view the Common Thread poster, or for knitting pattern links, visit the CVS Falkirk website.
- Food Volunteers
Volunteers will help with cooking demonstrations taking place outside the community hub on the day, as well as helping to set up and clear down at the end of the day. Please note that a food hygiene qualification is essential for this role.
FEL’s food officer, Norelle, will be making bean burgers, dip and salad for the public to try. Volunteers will start at 10am before the event, and finish at 5pm.
- Children’s Activities Volunteers
The event will feature a range of children’s activities from within and outside the community hub. FEL are looking for friendly and engaging volunteers to help with the children’s drawing competition, apron-making, and face painting. Those with experience in children’s face painting are preferred, especially those confident in nature designs to keep in with the theme of the day.
- General Volunteers
People are also needed to help with promoting the event on the day, encouraging members of the public to visit the community hub and the range of stalls available. They will also be asked to help hand out volunteer recruitment packs and be there to help out set up the event and clear down at the end of the day.
To volunteer in any of these roles, or for further information, please contact Julie Ryan by email: julie@forthenvironmentlink.org
