As a result of COVID-19, Doors Open Day 2020 will take place mostly online, allowing people across Scotland and the world to safely explore Scotland’s buildings, spaces and places.
Doors Open Days (DOD) is Scotland’s free festival celebrating heritage and the built environment. It offers free access to over a thousand venues across the country throughout September, every year.
Venues and groups are producing a wide range of online offerings, including:
- Facebook and Instagram Live guided tours
- recorded oral histories
- webinars
- 360-degree tours
- virtual exhibitions
- live Q&A sessions
A limited number of venues may still be open for physical sites this year, but it is anticipated that most of the festival will take place online.
DOD is also supporting venues and groups to create virtual tours and online lectures, including collating and producing simple tutorials on hosting online tours and talks. Those interested in taking part in the 2020 digital festival should find and contact their region co-ordinator.
