Disclosure Scotland’s changes to their services come into effect next Tuesday 1 April 2025.
This is part of the process for implementing the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under these changes, the volunteer roles your organisation offer (including Trustee and Director roles) may now legally require a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check.
The Regulated Roles that now require a PVG have also been updated. Examples of new Regulated Roles include (but are not limited to):
- board members, directors, committee members, and trustees
- sports and talent agents, including scouts
- homeless service support volunteers
It is important to check whether this applies to your group or organisation – even if roles haven’t needed PVG before.
Volunteer Scotland’s Disclosure Services (VSDS) have now published Regulated Roles guidance to help you assess the roles within your organisation, and determine if a PVG check is required. You can access the new guidance document via the Volunteer Scotland website (linked for your convenience).
