Deaf Action has recently set up their free Bright Deal project, which is targeted towards the D/deaf and hard of hearing communities in Scotland.
Deaf Action is a D/deaf-led charity based in Edinburgh. The Bright Deal project aims to advise people in the D/deaf and hard of hearing communities on how to manage their energy bills within their households.
As part of the project and its services, Deaf Action provides advice on information across a range of areas, including:
- home energy advice
- paying energy bills
- Ofgem and rising energy prices
- switching energy providers
- help understanding bills and reading meters
- how to access renewable energy
- Winter Fuel Poverty and how to save money
- how to set up a heating controls
- running costs of appliances, and energy efficient appliances
- energy saving tips

Bright Deal is a free service, funded by the Energy Saving Trust.
BSL interpreters are available and able to provide communication with those who are hard of hearing or D/deaf. Appointments with the Bright Deal team are also available, as a 10-minute video-call with their advisors, or book a house visit (within a week) with their advisors.
