Cyrenians are currently recruiting a Garden Co-ordinator and a Gardener. Both positions are initially funded until Friday 31st March 2017, and are located in the Dollar Park Walled Garden.
The Walled Garden is around a half acre of ground Dollar Park, Falkirk. It retains many original features such as a gazebo, arbour, stonework and gates. Largely abandoned until recently, it has been renovated from waste ground by Falkirk Criminal Justice Service.
Cyrenians has assumed responsibility for the day to day management of the garden, in order to create a vibrant community space that will encourage individuals, groups and organisations, schools and the wider public to learn and engage in environmental, social and health activities.
- Garden Co-ordinator
The position is part-time at 28 hours per week, and a salary of £19,991 – £22,354, pro rata.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the support and management of people on community payback orders, the delivery of accredited learning opportunities to those individuals, and engagement of volunteers.
Applicants should have a genuine interest in gardens or working outdoors, and a background in support work, in order to ensure that the garden offers opportunities for people to contribute to the space.
Knowledge of the criminal justice system and excellent interpersonal skills will enable the successful candidate to motivate and inspire participants to get the most out of the opportunities that the garden presents.

Applicants should have experience in gardening, broad horticultural knowledge and be able to work in a team. They should also have excellent communication skills, enabling them to work alongside a Garden Co-ordinator to identify tasks and activities that volunteers and individuals on unpaid work placements can contribute to, as required.
The position will require developing and delivering a growing and maintenance plan, ensuring that the garden is attractive and well-maintained all year round.
