Cyrenians’ Chances service offers one-to-one non-judgmental tailored support to people who are gambling, or those impacted by someone else’s gambling, to help them reach their goals. The team support people in Edinburgh, The Borders, Falkirk and The Lothians and are happy to meet people in their offices, the community, on the phone, or online.
The support their services provides to family and friends impacted by gambling is focused on them, rather than the person who gambles. Family and friends are welcome to receive support whether the person gambling is being supported or not.
They can provide the following for gamblers:
- Support to reduce gambling or stop completely
- Practical support with self exclusion from gambling apps, websites and premises and/or setting limits
- Budgeting and financial support and signposting
- Learning about why people develop issues with gambling and what happens in the brain
- Understanding personal gambling behaviour and making appropriate changes
- How to improve other areas of life to reduce the desire to gamble
- Developing individual and community connections for recovery
They can provide family and friends support with:
- Free support, help, and advice
- Understanding loved ones’ triggers
- Learning positive communication strategies
- Increased resilience
- Self-care, improved wellbeing, and outlook… and more!
The team understand asking for help can be difficult so want to make sure you get the support you need, in the way that works best for you. Our Chances: Gambling Support team can work with people face-to-face, online, or by phone.
