Falkirk and District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) are holding upcoming training courses starting in August on COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills in Falkirk, Glenrothes and Cumbernauld.
The Certificate in Counselling Skills course is for anybody who wants to improve their understanding of other people as well as themselves, whether they are a professional or volunteer, a carer or helper, a salesperson, a parent or a manager or someone wishing to pursue career development. Places cost £1000 each.
Training dates and locations are:
- the Tuesday and Thursday evening course starts on Tuesday 14th August, 6pm – 9pm, at Cornerstone House, 1 Esk Walk, Cumbernauld, Glasgow G67 1BZ; the course will last for a duration of 6 months and finishes in February 2019
- the weekend course starts on Saturday 18th August, 10am – 5pm, at FDAMH’s office, 173 Victoria Road, Falkirk, FK2 7AU, and will last for 4 months, finishing in December 2018
- the Thursday daytime course starts on Thursday 23rd August, 9:30am – 3:30pm at Craig Mitchell House, Flemington Road, Glenrothes, KY7 5QF, and will last for 7 months, finishing in March 2019
- the Monday evening course starts on Monday 27th August, 6pm – 9pm at Link Academy, McKinven House, George Street, Falkirk, FK2 7EY, lasting for a full academic year and finishing in June 2019
Attendees will learn to:
- support others by developing practical listening skills
- study the use of body language, and speak effectively while others listen
- increase their self-awareness
- build relationships with others
- understand the concepts of counselling and counselling skills
- find out more about ethics and how to listen to and support others
