As the next step in their new 2 year transitions project, “Going Forward – Preparing Parents for Transition”, Contact are holding 6 free workshops across Scotland this autumn for parents of young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
The workshops will take place on the following dates:
- Monday 2nd October, Inverness (2 workshops)
- Friday 6th October, Alloa
- Wednesday 11th October, Inverurie
- Monday 30th October, Livingston
- Tuesday 7th November, Galashields
The first 5 workshops aim to give parents an insight into the process of transition, along with information, tips and tools to support their own planning and preparation. The workshop in Galashiels will look at Powers of Attorney and guardianship, introducing parents to the legal considerations around ongoing support for their family member, and equipping them to make the best decisions for their own circumstances.
Please note these workshops are aimed at families only, and are not open to professionals. They are part of a wider parent consultation funded by Scottish Government through the Children, Young People and Families Early Intervention and Adult Learning and Empowering Communities (CYPFEIF and ALEC) Fund.
