Connecting Scotland’s Stage Two is now open to applications.
Connecting Scotland is a Scottish Government Digital Inclusion programme, set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Getting online will help individuals access public services, support learning and training, help find or maintain work and provide resilience in the event of further lockdowns.
The programme provides iPads, Chromebooks and support to develop digital skills for people who are all of the following:
- digitally excluded – no device and/or internet connection
- cannot afford to buy a device or pay for internet access
- and are either
- households with children or where a child is normally resident
- care leavers up to the age of 26 years old
Organisations can apply for devices on behalf of people and families they support. Disadvantaged families with children and care experienced young people will be prioritised. Families and individuals will receive a device, 12 months unlimited data, and technical support to get online safely and securely.
The deadline for applications to Stage Two is 11am on Monday 5th October.
Applications will be assessed by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and the local councils, and decisions communicated by Monday 2nd November at the latest. Distribution will take place from November onwards. Another application round is planned for November.
