Regulations and guidance detail how the participation request mechanism, as set out in Part 3 of the Act, will work in practice. In 2016, the Scottish Government held a consultation on these regulations and guidance in order to ensure they would work as envisioned. The draft guidance published is a result of the input received during the consultation period.
In addition, Scottish Government have been developing the revised regulations and working with a stakeholder group to write the guidance for public service authorities and community participation bodies.
Provisions for the Act are expected to come into force around April 2017.
While it is not expected that the guidance will change significantly, the Scottish Government still welcomes comments and questions, which can be submitted by email: email@example.com
