Outside the Box, in partnership with Falkirk Council and the Make It Happen Forum, have published the Coming Home From The Hospital booklet, as part of their Moving Assistance series.
The Falkirk Moving Assistance project had produced tips for people thinking about moving house, where suggestions came from the experiences of older people in Falkirk District and their families. It was suggested that having a similar set of information for those coming home from the hospital would also be useful.
The booklet is for people who are in hospital, and for their families and friends, and provides tips and information on a range of areas, including:
- the first few days of a hospital stay
- when you are in hospital for a longer period
- getting repairs and changes made to your house to help you get back home
- planning for the first few days after you come home from hospital
- once you are home and settled
There is also information on planning ahead in case of a stay in hospital, and a list of useful contacts in Falkirk.
Outside the Box would like to extend their thanks to everyone who submitted their comments and views during the process, and welcome any further comment on the booklet itself.
They are also looking at holding a workshop session in autumn, to encourage people to talk and share problems and solutions around ways to help people get home as easily as possible. Further information will be released closer to the time.
