The National Lottery Community Fund has launched the new UK-wide £100 million Climate Action Fund, which will open for applications shortly and aims to enable communities to take the lead in tackling climate change.
In the first instance, only 10 – 15 awards will be given. Successful applicants will already have plans or impactful activities they want to develop, which they should be able to explain in their initial contact.
Successful applicants will also be expected to share learning and engage others in building broader movement of change.
Learning from the first round of funding will be used to help shape what happens next, with testing and learning throughout the programme.
Before the fund opens to applications, the National Lottery Community Fund are working to gather information about work already happening or being developed across the UK, and have opened an online survey. In particular, they would like to hear from any partnerships of community groups working on high-impact climate action activities in their area.
Survey responses will be used to help inform the development of the Climate Action Fund, and to start identifying possible applicants.
The deadline for responses is Friday 11th October.
