The Children and Young People (Scotland) Act will be in place fully by Wednesday 31st August 2016. The key legislative requirements are Wellbeing (part 18), the Named Person Service (part 4) and the Child’s Plan (part 5).
All individuals working with children and young people will have a responsibility for children’s wellbeing. All children and young people from birth to eighteen years of age will be entitled to access the Named Person Service. The Named Person will normally be the Health Visitor for pre-school children, Head Teacher or Guidance Teacher for those in school, and for others the role will sit within Children’s Services.
