Changeworks, an Edinburgh-based environmental charity, has produced an information leaflet with details on what to do if your current energy provider goes out of business.
The leaflet advises that Ofgem, the UK’s independent energy industry regulator, is there to protect people if their supplier fails – this means people will not be left without gas or electricity, and any payments they have made are protected.
It then lists steps to take, and what happens next, including a new provider being appointed by Ofgem.
Changeworks advises not to switch providers during this time, to help make sure the transfer to their new Ofgem-appointed supplier is as hassle free as possible.
To view or download the leaflet as a pdf, please visit the CVS Falkirk website.
