Celebrating Volunteering

Posted on April 28, 2017

Volunteers’ Week (which runs from Thursday 1st June – Thursday 7th June) highlights the many strands of volunteering throughout Scotland, celebrating the time and effort given by the unsung heroes who give back to their communities – not for their own benefit, but for other people.

Volunteers make a tremendous difference to our community. They offer and bring not only their time, but also their energy, skills, individual perspectives and talents, thereby enhancing our communities, local services and lives.

Across Scotland, over 1.25 million volunteers contribute 162 million hours, and £6.2 billion to the local economy.

To celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2017 and the commitment, time and energy given by volunteers across Falkirk, local organisations can now request our Celebrating Volunteering Certificates and Long Service badges for volunteers.  The badges and personalised certificates will be ready for collection week commencing Monday 22nd May.

To receive your certificates, please complete the attached form and return it to us by email: info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk

Alternatively, you can send your Certificate Request Form by post to: CVS Falkirk, Unit 6, Callendar Business Park, Falkirk, FK1 1XR.  All forms must be received by Friday 5th May.

Given such positive feedback, we are running our Volunteer Spotlight and #VolunteeringIn3 initiatives for the second year, and are looking for organisations to get involved.

For #VolunteeringIn3, we want to know what volunteering means to you in three words, whether you are a volunteer, work with volunteers, or have interacted with volunteers in any way.  Tweet us or comment with your three words, and we’ll feature them on Twitter and our new graffiti wall!  (You can see last year’s wall on Twitter.)

Our Volunteer Spotlights highlight the impact volunteers have on your services, what volunteering means to you, as organisations, as volunteers, and why it is so important.  We’ll then publish a series of spotlights on our website throughout Volunteers’ Week.

CVS Falkirk are looking for groups and organisations who work with volunteers to participate in their Volunteers’ Week celebrations in June, specifically our online spotlights on the CVS Falkirk website and Twitter account.

We are particularly looking for groups who are active in the following areas: sport, health, social care, older people, young people, fundraising, outdoors, tutoring, disability, and families.
