Al Masaar is currently recruiting a sessional worker to manage and develop their Wee Steps project.
Due to the nature of this role, it is reserved for women only, under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
Al Masaar is a Falkirk based non-profit organisation that supports the local minority ethnic community. Wee Steps has been set up to support vulnerable mothers with babies or toddlers and pregnant mothers who have been referred through service providers.
The post is 4 hours a week, with a salary of £10 per hour. The contract runs until September 2016, which may be extended into 2017, subject to funding.
Applicants should be fluent in in one or more South Asian language, with good listening, empathetic, organisational and networking skills. They should also have a background in a similar area, though this is not essential.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Organise weekly support sessions.
- Communicate effectively with mothers, other support workers, and volunteers.
- Find and maintain links with other agencies, including NHS Forth Valley, Falkirk Council Children’s Services and Social work.
- Provide targeted development strategies for mothers and their children.
