Turn2us is a national charity that helps people in financial hardship to gain access to welfare benefits, charitable grants and support services. They do this online, by phone and face to face, through partner organisation and volunteers.
They also give direct financial support through their Elizabeth Finn Fund (EFF). The EFF has been giving direct grants and support for over a century to people in financial difficulty who have a professional background and meet their grant-giving criteria.
Turn2us are currently working with advisers, caseworkers and volunteers from other organisations to reach people in financial need who can be supported by an EFF grant. They want to partner with selected organisations that through their work already come into contact with people in financial hardship.
They offer award grants that we hope will make a difference to an individual’s or family’s life and improve their living conditions. Their grants are based on personal circumstances and in most cases they offer a one-off award. They give grants for a large variety of items and situations, including household items, home repairs, education or transport. The amount they award is dependant on the need of the individual; with a typical grant of around £1,000. In total, they plan to give approximately £2.5 million in direct grants over the next year.
In addition, they also run a workshop programme around the country and can arrange in-house sessions/presentations on using their tools and resources.
