Constitutions
Constitutions, or governing documents, set out the purpose (or objects) of an organisation and the rules for how an organisation is governed. For unincorporated organisations, these are often called constitutions and for companies limited by guarantee the governing documents are the Memorandum and Articles of Association.
A good governing document which is up-to-date, fit for purpose and legally robust is important in helping committees/boards to run an organisation properly and within the law.
Most people who get involved with voluntary organisations are not experts on charity law, company law or governing documents. We're able to help people and organisations to better understand these things, review practice and ensure organisations are robust.

Policies
Policies are key documents, or guiding principles, which determine how organisations deal with certain events or circumstances. Good policies which are compatible with an organisation's values, purpose and governing document are important. It is often the case that organisations which employ staff have a greater number of policies. Common policies include things like Health and Safety Policy and Smoking Policy.
