If you're thinking about starting a new social enterprise, or your organisation is thinking about setting up a trading arm or becoming a 'social enterprise' then please do get in touch with us.
We have a remit to support social enterprises in the Falkirk Council area and have good links with national organisations to provide relevant and timely support for Falkirk organisations.
A good place to get involved would be our local Falkirk Social Enterprise Forum. This will present opportunities to network with others who are involved in social enterprises or becoming more socially enterprising. We also have guest speakers and share information, funding opportunities and good practice.
Case study
A newly established social enterprise came to us through Business Gateway looking for support in developing their business plan. The CIC's (Community Interest Company) aim was to set up a community café in Polmont. We have supported this new venture in a number of areas including applying for funding, establishing links with local organisations, networking with members of the Social Enterprise Forum, volunteer recruitment and management.
The café opened on 8th April and business is steadily increasing. The CIC is working closely with a local mental health organisation to provide placement opportunities in the café and are considering the potential to set up a Fruit Barra and run this from the café premises.
“I'd like to say that I have found the help and encouragement received from CVS invaluable. You’ve been particularly helpful and your expertise and wealth of local contacts have broadened my original idea. You’ve always been approachable and have sat through many meetings with me, always ready to support our enterprise. I doubt I would be this far along the process without your input".
